    Thursday August 29th

We've almost survived our first full week!!

    1) No School on Monday in observance of Labor Day.  Don't send your children because I will not be here :)

    2) If anyone has an old rocking chair or something that you can donate for a teacher reading chair, please let me know.

    3) Individual snack starts on Tuesday.  Please send in a snack (no drink) for your child daily (something they can eat in 10 minutes or less).  On Fridays we have our cooking lesson so there is no need to send in a snack.

    4) If you were not at Back to School night and would like to sign-up to bring in cooking supplies, please let me know.

    5) September begins our All About Me Unit.  I will be sending a paper bag home with the students today.  Please fill the bag with 3-5 small personal items/pictures (nothing valuable) that they can share with the class over the next few weeks.  This is due on Thursday September 5th.

    6) Your children met their 8th grade buddy for the first time yesterday.  Each child is paired with 1-2 8th graders.  We sit with them weekly at Mass, go on field trips with them, and collaborate on projects with them throughout the year.  I will send home the name of your 8th grade buddy for your reference.

    6) Yesterday we went to All School Mass for the first time!  The children were wonderful!  However, please continue to discuss the importance good behavior at Mass (sitting up in the pews, not touching the books, listening to their 8th grade buddy).

    7) Friday is a JEAN DAY.  Students may wear jeans, jean shorts, jean skirts with their Friday shirts or uniform shirts.  If they do not want to wear jeans, they may wear their uniforms.  We are collecting money for MDA research.  If you would like to donate, please send money in a marked envelope in your child's folder.

    Happy Thursday!

We had a wonderful first day of school!  It was so nice to meet you and your children this morning.  Your kids will surely be exhausted tonight!  We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to start off our year.  We have P.E. class tomorrow so please bring P.E. shoes if you haven't done so already.  Also remember that Back to School Night is next Tuesday at 6:30.  Hope to see you all there!
